Early Monday morning, just before 4 a.m., a car allegedly struck a telephone pole near North 105th Street and Greenwood Avenue North in North Seattle. The impact knocked down power lines, and the vehicle then hit a building. The driver, a 20-year-old man, was injured and was taken to the hospital. Police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
According to KIRO 7 News Seattle, the Seattle Police Department said the driver was the only person reported hurt. He got out of the car on his own with a leg injury and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. KIRO 7 reported that Greenwood Avenue North was closed in both directions while crews cleared the downed pole and power lines. MyNorthwest also reported the arrest and the road blockages. A DUI arrest is not a conviction, and the cause of the crash remains subject to investigation.
